5G SHIFT solution deployed at sites in the UK supporting high footfall Point of Sale terminals and critical communications needs for safe operation of large events.
Cork, IE & Barcelona, ES – December 12th, 2024 – Software Radio Systems (SRS), the full-stack 5G RAN software specialist, today announced that Antevia Networks has selected SRS as 5G RAN partner for its unique “5G SHIFT” enterprise private 5G solution. Based on Open RAN (O-RAN) shared cell intelligent fronthaul technology, 5G SHIFT is a new class of in-building wireless coverage that embraces virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) and is underpinned by the flexible and open architecture defined by the O-RAN standards.
Antevia Networks selected the srsRAN Enterprise 5G vRAN, a fully virtualized O-RAN-native CU/DU software stack from SRS, to provide the full 5G RAN stack in its 5G SHIFT enterprise private network solution. Developed entirely in-house by SRS, srsRAN Enterprise 5G vRAN addresses the specific needs of the Private and Enterprise 5G market. The solution brings the essential scalability, modularity and hardware portability necessary to deliver the 5G SHIFT vision; 5G enterprise private networks that are simple to design, fast to deploy, and easy to operate.
Paul Sutton, CEO of SRS commented: “Enterprises are deploying private 5G because they have a problem to solve, or a business benefit to unlock. They need high-performance, affordable, enterprise-proven 5G connectivity in their workplace, but they don’t want to have to deal with unnecessary complexity, cost or delay in deploying it. By distilling down only the most essential sets of functions and options needed for deploying a 5G enterprise private network, Antevia’s 5G SHIFT means enterprise customers can quickly, reliably and cost-effectively deploy private 5G in their locations. We’re delighted to have been chosen to work with Antevia on this solution, and in making O-RAN the enterprise-ready choice for deployments today.”
The 5G SHIFT solution is deployable today in business-critical enterprise 5G networks where stability, availability and scalability are vital; for example, high-footfall retail locations where Point of Sale (PoS) terminals require 99.999% reliability in their 5G connection. Initial deployments of 5G SHIFT have already taken place at key locations in the UK, with further deployments planned in early 2025.
Simon Cosgrove, CEO of Antevia Networks said: “Enterprises need 5G private networks solutions that are fast to deploy, simple to operate and easy to modify as demand changes. By working with proven O-RAN leaders like SRS, Antevia has selected the key features and options needed by enterprises that bring the benefits without the complexity. 5G SHIFT includes new innovative features that makes 5G cellular technology more enterprise IT friendly, reducing the cost, time and complexity of using 5G private networks for critical communication needs.”
